Back in America

Everyone - The kids have all arrived safely in Newark. After a very long flight, they are all exhausted (at least my daughter is). They left Rome yesterday at around 4:45 am. Mrs. Brooks said that some of the kids saw the Pope in Rome yesterday. They are now scheduled to leave Newark around 5:00PM. I'm sure everyone is excited to see their families!

Ciao from the Accorsos!

Beun guerno!!
We climbed mount vesuvius today!! we cant believe we climbed a volcano!! It was a rocky road getting there with Claudio and a lot of people felt sick but it got better later in the day. Everyone is great now though. Also it was a tough walk up but it was worth the wait. we were looking down at clouds! it was insane! Mr. Porto acted like he was the hobbit from Lord of the Rings. It was hilarious. Then we went to the archielotical museum of naples!! it was very interesting. Now we are in Roma! we just went to the colosseum! it was amazing! Ian made some corny jokes that Michelle got 5 minutes later. Melissa, Cara, Bai Rossi, and Porto took some rocks from it..sshhhh dont tell anyone. Coming back, Brad did his model walk down the streets for us. We got gelato like always....we are having a ton of fun and our hotel is great!!!
Ciao!
Melissa, Cara, and Christina

They have arrived in Rome!

Everyone - I just heard from Mrs. Brooks and she said they have all arrived in Rome safely!! Today they climbed to the top of Mt. Vesuvius which she said is still active! They could actually see steam coming out of the top of the volcano. They actually climbed above the clouds! They then went to Naples and saw the craziness of the traffic up close! In Naples, they went to the oldest museum in all of Italy (possibly in all of Europe). She said it was like you were in Greece since they saw many Greek-Roman artifacts. They are going down to dinner right now and then are going to stroll through the coleseum.

Again, you can call your child tonight at the hotel after 10:00 pm (their time). They have internet service in the rooms at the hotel, but it is very expensive. She is going to try to find an internet cafe so her or the kids can update the blog. They are off to the Vatican tomorrow.

The weather has been quite rainy, but I'm sure it's nicer than being here! The best thing of the trip has been the food! Very good!!

I'll update again tomorrow if she doesn't.

Erin Italy

Hello! From Italy! It is soooo beautiful! Mountains are everywhere!!! But you were wrong! The Almalfi Coast did make me sick! Everything is sooo green! Trees are are everywhere!! How was the wedding? Friday was a long day. We got off the plane and went through immigration real quick and got on the bus for a four hour bus ride to Sorrento. And then that night we walked around until like 10:30 and we had to get up today at 6 to go to the Almafi caost, take a nice hike-feet only hurt a little, not too bad. And then POMPEII!! It was amazing. Tomorrow we are going to Capri and on Monday we are going to climb mount vesuveus and go to the Naples archeological museum and then to rome. But getting sleep and being awake as the day drags on is hard. Say hi to everyone! Sorry i missed the family! Bye!

Hello from Sorrento!

Hi everyone this is Mrs. Brooks! We're soo sorry that we have not been on the blog! It must be the nonstop trip we are on. As I write now, most of the group is getting gelato for at least the fourth time in the past two days. Today we learned how to hike and we learned Italian nature looks like up close and personal, we were greeted with 'are you Americans?' and the Italian answer to us was 'Yes we can!'. After that exciting encounter we were back on mini-vans to be greeted by our Italian grandmother in Pompeii. She quickly learned all the names, starting with Brad and Chad and continuing on with the rest of the boys, and Abby. Brittany got a special shoutout from mama-pompeii.

Everyone is looking forward to bed!! and tomorrow is boat day around Capri! We are hoping for nice weather and have all ready hired a small boat that will take us around. Mr. Porto has all ready bought 3 snow globes and is looking for his 4th at Capri tomorrow! We are all happy and doing very well. Our special news is that the day after tomorrow we have arranged to hike to the top of Mt. Vusius. We hope it does not blow and if it doesn't explode on us we will be returning with volcano rocks. Hope to be blogging more soon! Still the easiest way to reach us is to call the hotel and ask for your students name. You should do so at around 10'00 PM our time, which is around 4'00 Pm for all you still in Rochester. We hope to put pictures on soon. Don't worry, the whole group is doing very well. Cìao!

Second days activities

Hello,
I just heard from Mrs Brooks about the amazing activities on their second day. They went on a 3 1/2 mile hike on the coast line of Amalfi through a beautiful waterfalls, where they also had a picnic on top of and met Italian lizards. After they finished the hike, they went down what is know as the windiest road in the world to visit Pompeii. In Pompeii they went on a tour with a woman who reminded you of an Italian grandmother, she knew everyone in town and was very good host.
The kids have done a good round of shopping and have had gelato several times. Mrs Brooks said if you would like to talk to your child, please call the hotel at 10pm their time tonight. Because it is cheaper for you to call then it is for the kids to call you. As they continue on Mrs Brooks will try to find an Internet cafe, to update the blog herself. Unfortunately at the hotel they only have two computers and they are very slow, so she has been unable update the blog. I should here from her tomorrow and I will post another update.

End of day update

Everyone - Just to let you know that I heard from Mrs. Brooks again. Everyone is safe and sound in their hotel hopefully getting a good night's sleep. She mentioned that kids have been trying to call their parents, but it would be better if the parents called the hotel and asked or their kids. Since it is 1:48 am right now, I wouldn't try, but maybe sometime tomorrow night.

I will post again when I get the next update.

Kathy

They are doing fine!

Hello - It seems that there was a little miscommunication on the phone # that Mrs. Brooks has been calling. She was calling my home phone and not my cell phone, so I decided to call her instead! They have arrived and are all doing very well!! The flights were all very crowded but went well. They are currently checked into their hotel and getting ready for dinner. The weather is absolutely gorgeous! Now that we have the phone # situated, she will update me again.

Sorry for the delay.

No Word Yet

Good morning everyone - Although I have been glued to my cell phone, I have not heard anything yet from Mrs. Brooks (my sister). I know they were supposed to arrive there around 7:00 am our time, but I am sure it probably took them a while to clear customs, get their luggage and get on their way. I will update this site as soon as I hear from them. Don't worry, I'm sure their fine!
